This has been formally running now for more than 25 years. Its 25th anniversary (LASR 2006) was celebrated last year. LASR has been a showcase for new and innovative statistical methods with applications in image analysis, geosciences, medicine and biology. The mission through these workshops has been to:
a. bring together world-class
scientists and statisticians
b. encourage cutting-edge
interdisciplinary research
c. sustain and develop
workshops as complimentary to other conferences.
Year after year, LASR has attracted participants from universities, industry, and other research institutions from all over the world. Many of the topics addressed at the LASR Workshop have had connections with broad interdisciplinary themes.
These have led to not only increasing awareness of a new cutting edge area for innovative statistical applications and methodologies. Since 2001, LASR has a predominately focused on statistical applications and methodologies in bioinformatics/biology.
For more information, please see Leeds Annual Statistics Research Workshops (LASR).
