An Audience with the President of India

Professor Kanti Mardia met the President of India, His Excellency Dr. Abdul Kalam, on 3rd January 2007 at the Presidential Palace in Delhi.

The President encouraged collaboration between Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, and the University of Leeds.

The ISI, established in 1931, is unique in that it has university status but Statistical Sciences is its only main focus.

The University of Leeds has a formal twinning agreement with the ISI, which is currently under consideration for renewal; the special emphasis would be on Statistical Bioinformatics.
