Mathematical physics; more specifically,
integrable systems, special functions, analytic difference equations,
classical and quantum mechanics, and the relations between these areas
Integrable Systems Survey:
To an outsider or novice (such as a prospective postgraduate student),
the area of Integrable Systems may seem
to be a vast jumble of disconnected subfields. Indeed, two randomly
chosen recent papers in this area would typically have very few
references in common (if any), and their subject matter might appear
quite unrelated to the unaided eye.
Given the multitude of strands in this area, the survey Survey
is an attempt to weave these strands into a coherent texture. It
aspires to be
a leisurely, non-parochial and non-technical account, with a minimum of
equations.
