More Caving in the Dry

Well relatively dry...
Last weekend (1/4/07) I was guest of the Orpheus caving club doing a trip down the Derbyshire cave "P8". here are some photos ... those that came out.
  • Phil, who is with the Orpheus, looks thoroughly at home between the rock curtains leading up to the upper level belay point for the first pitch.
  • Mr. Solocavediver not in his caving gear.
  • Matt and Ralph discuss gear, in this case a headlamp.
  • A stream trickles into the entrance hole. Wetsuit recommended.
  • Phil at the surface.
  • Chris, also with the Orpheus.
  • Pete, team leader with the Orpheus
  • Into the cave....
  • first pitch with steam arising from those already down
  • Pete observes...
  • Phil adjusts his gear near the bottom of the pitch (there's a little swing to his right to do in order to touch down in the right place).
  • Matt.
  • Moving on.
  • It's time for an upper level traverse, bypassing the second pitch.
  • Moving on to Mud Hall.
  • Mud of Mud Hall.
  • Flowstone fingers.
  • Our leader relaxes.
