Jitse Niesen — Curriculum vitae
Jitse Niesen was born in Belfeld, a small village near Maastricht in the Netherlands. He studied Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Twente in Enschede, the Netherlands. He continued as a PhD student of Arieh Iserles at the Numerical Analysis group of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. After a two-month stint at the International University Bremen in Germany, he spent 2½ years as a postdoc at the Mathematics Department of Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, and 1½ years as a postdoc at the Mathematics Section of La Trobe University in Melbourne. He moved to Leeds in October 2007, where he now holds a lectureship in the Department of Applied Mathematics.
