19th L.A.S.R (Leeds Annual Statistics Research) Workshop
organized by
the Department of Statistics and CoMIR , University of Leeds, UK
and by the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta, India.

3 July - 5 July, 2000

This year's workshop celebrated the 65th birthday of Kanti Mardia who was the founder of the LASR Workshops and has been the motivating force behind the event for the last 25 years. The themes this year have been directional data, shape and image analysis. These reflect Kanti's research interests and represent important areas in current statistical research. The format was a mixture of invited and contributed talks, as well as posters.

This workshop was organised as part of the twinning arrangement between the University of Leeds and the Indian Statistical Institute.

The workshop recieved funding from the London Mathematical Society.
