MATH3082, MATH3083, MATH3422, MATH3423, MATH3752, MATH3753, MATH5003, MATH5004

This page contains important information for all students who in 2012/13 have the option of enrolling on one of the project modules MATH3082, MATH3083, MATH3422, MATH3423, MATH3752, MATH3753, MATH5003, or MATH5004.
If this applies to you, please read the information below carefully.
  1. All students intending to take any of the project modules above must complete a “Project Allocation Form” which can be downloaded at  http://www.maths.leeds.ac.uk/school/students/Project_Allocation_Form.pdf or picked up from the Maths Taught Student Office. Before completing the form you need to contact a project supervisor, discuss the topic of your project with him/her, and ask the supervisor to agree to supervise your project. Please hand in the completed form to the Maths Taught Student Office by the deadline below. Students who are currently on the Year Abroad, the Year in Industry, temporary leave, or are not able to meet the supervisor in person for other reasons, can complete these steps by email, by forwarding a confirmation email from the supervisor to Charlotte Walker. Please make sure that your email contains all the information listed on the form.
In order to pick a project topic, please visit the website http://www1.maths.leeds.ac.uk/~ppmartin/LEARN/projects2/index2012.html where you will find, among other things, lists of project topics, and a link to the Project Handbook with more details about the project modules. If you have a particular interest, you can also discuss with your supervisor possible variations of a topic listed.

  2. DEADLINES and CAPS for MATH3082, MATH3083, MATH3422, MATH3423, MATH3752, MATH3753. There is a limited number of spaces available on these modules. Students who have already enrolled on any of these modules must submit their completed and signed Project Allocation Form to the Maths Taught Student Office by WEDNESDAY 6th of June 2012 to secure their place. After this date, students who have not submitted the form will be removed from the module and informed of this by email. Places becoming available through this process will then be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis (determined by the hand-in date of the Project Allocation Form). Individual students will be informed by email when/if a place becomes available.
The FINAL DEADLINE for submitting the Project Allocation Form is the 28th of September 2012.

  3. DEADLINE for MATH5003 and MATH5004. MMath students who will be in Year 4 of their programme in 2012/13 must choose their project and submit the Project Allocation Form by 15th of June 2012 (End of term). Students who have not submitted their form by this date will be allocated to a supervisor and a project by the Project Coordinators.
You can find information about the project modules at http://www1.maths.leeds.ac.uk/~ppmartin/LEARN/projects2/index2012.html
