Attendance Monitoring 2011/12 - Information for Staff

Code of Practice
  • It is compulsory for students to attend all scheduled teaching activities as spelled out in the University's Code of Practice on Attendance.
  • If a student is ill or cannot attend a teaching session for any reasons, he or she is required to submit a request via the Portal to be excused. Details can be found here.

Monitoring of Attendance
  • For each module the Maths Taught Office will identify about three teaching activities (minimum required) for each module to be monitored.
  • Printed sign-in sheets will be placed in the lecturers’ or tutors' pigeon holes ahead of the activities to be monitored.
  • Lecturers should circulate these in the lectures, tutorials or workshops, and return to the Maths Taught Student Office as soon as possible after the teaching session. Data will be entered and processed by the Maths taught Student Office.
  • Lecturers are asked not to enter any data themselves. Lecturers are free to take and keep additional attendance records if they wish to do so.
  • Students with repeated absences on their record will be asked to see their personal tutors.
