Abstract: What is it that
Computability Theorists do all day? Most pure postgrads will know vaguely what
it is that algebra, analysis, geometry or number theory is about, but not
necessarily what mathematical logic is about. I'll cover some fundamental
definitions and basic results, with some of the historical motivations behind
the start of the study.

Abstract: The Kobayashi-Hitchin
correspondence relates stable vector bundles to Einstein-Hermitian vector
bundles over a complex manifold. The correspondence is named after Shoshichi
Kobayashi and Nigel Hitchin, who independently conjectured the result in the
1980s. The seminar will cover the basic definitions that are necessary to
understand the statement of the correspondence. Furthermore, it will be given a
historic background of this result.
