Abstract: The Ackermann function is a well known and well studied example
for a recursive but not primitive recursive function.
Surprisingly there are still unsolved problems related to this function. 

We treat some recent results on
Ackermannian functions related to results by Erd\"os Szekeres
and Erd\"os Moser and discuss their relation
to Ramsey's theorem for pairs.
