PhD Opportunities

There is: information about MPhil and PhD study in the School of Mathematics; it is important to obtain funding, and deadlines for various scholarships can be rather early.

The following members of staff are willing to supervise PhD students; these are all merely suggestions for projects. If you are interested, but not directly in a stated project, then just contact the relevant member of staff.

Dr Daws offers the following topics:

Dr Kisil offers the following topics (click link for further details):

  • Spectral Analysis of Operators from Wavelet Transform
  • Symmetries of Spaces of Analytic Function
  • Quantum-Classic Interaction and Coherent States
  • Enumeration on Semigroups and Hypergroups with Tokens

Prof Partington offers the following topics (click link for further details):

  • Banach spaces of analytic functions, including the classical Hardy spaces.
  • Special classes of linear operators, particularly Hankel, Toeplitz and composition operators.
  • Reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces.
  • Invariant subspaces. Hypercyclicity.
  • Semigroups of operators. Closed operators and the gap topology.
  • A variety of problems of a more applied nature.

Prof Read works in Banach algebras and operator theory, and could supervise students in these areas.
