Analysis is the study of spaces and functions which have a notion of "distance"
which allows limiting processes to be studied. Analysis at Leeds centres around
functional analysis and
harmonic analysis, both
in the abstract theory, and in applications to mathematical physics and engineering.
The two principal seminars which the Analysis group attends are the
Yorkshire Functional Analysis seminar and the
North British Functional Analysis Seminar.
We are also invovled in the
Noncommutative geometry, Analysis, and Groups Seminar, and the
QoP Network.

The standard map applied for 20 iterations to a vertically homogeneous
initial density. Below is shown the Haar wavelet basis transform of this
function: you can see both spatial and frequency data.
