A meeting of the North British Functional Analysis Seminar was held at the Department of Mathematics, University of Newcastle on Friday, 5th November, 1999.
Professor Edward Effros (University of California at Los Angeles) gave two one-hour talks:
``Quantizing the variables of Banach space theory"
at 2.30pm in Room L401, Merz Court
``Nuclearity and beyond; the significance of the Archbold-Batty conditions"
at 4.00pm in Room L401, Merz Court.
Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided in the Buttery around 3.30pm.
All interested were welcome to attend.
