Notes for Contributors

Submission of papers

Papers must be in English. Send four copies to the Executive Editor Professor M. S. El Naschic , or to one of the Regional Editors.

Submission of a paper implies that the work has not been previously published, nor simultaneously submitted for publication elsewhere. All papers are refereed.

The manuscript should comprise: abstract (200 words or less); main body of paper; acknowledgements, references; appendices. It is recommended that, where possible, authors supply a FAX number so that any editorial queries can be speedily dealt with.

Regular manuscripts should be typed in double spacing throughout on good quality white paper, on one side of the page, with adequate margins.

Mathematical expressions

Mathematical symbols and formulae should be typed. Identify unusual mathematical symbols and abbreviations at their first appearance. Distinguish between capital and lower case; between the letter 0 and zero (0); between the letter I and the number 1; between k and kappa. Use the following sequence of parentheses: )]}. Vectors and tensors should be clearly identified throughout the manuscripts. Standard symbols should be used whenever possible, preferably those recommended by the American Standards Association. Equations should be numbered in a single sequence and equation numbers should appear in parentheses on the right-hand side of the page.

Units

Use Systeme International (SI) units. Other units may be included in parentheses.

Figures (photographs, diagrams and graphs)

Figures should be numbered consecutively in the order which they are referred to. They should not be included in the manuscript pages.

Original line drawings or glossy prints (not photocopies) should be about twice the printed size and should be suitable for immediate reproduction. Lettering must be large enough to be reduced by the same proportion. Figure captions should be typed on a single sheet and placed at the end of the manuscript. The amount of lettering on a drawing should be reduced as far as possible by transferring it to the legend.

Colour illustrations

Colour illustrations can be accepted without charge subiect to editorial approval, but the colour must be essential to the content of the paper.

Tables

Tables should be numbered consecutively and each typed on a separate sheet.

References

References should be denoted in the text by numbers in brackets and listed, with full paper titles, at the end of the paper in numerical order, in the following style:

  1. 0. McBryan. Matrix and vector operations on hypercube parallel processors, Parallel Computering 5, 1 17-125 (1987).

Proofs

Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for checking for printer's errors; any other changes may be charged to the author. Proofs should be returned within 48 hours. No manuscripts or figures will be returned following publication unless a request for return is made when the manuscript is submitted.

Copyright

Copyright must be explicitly transferred to enable the publisher to ensure maximum dissemination of the author's work. A Transfer of Copyright Agreement and Publishing Agreement will be supplied to each corresponding author. The author must obtain written permission for the reproduction of any previously published material.

Reprints

Authors will receive 25 free reprints of their paper and may purchase further reprints and copies of the issue containing their paper. An order form will accompany the proofs.
