• 14th LESLIE FOX PRIZE IN NUMERICAL ANALYSIS: Call for Papers. The Fourteenth Leslie Fox Prize meeting will take place on Monday, June 29th 2009, at the Mathematics Institute, University of Warwick. Entries for the Fourteenth Leslie Fox Prize competition should now be submitted. Any person who is less than 31 years old on January 1st, 2009 and has not already won a first prize is eligible.

• Jonathan Dawes has been appointed to a Readership in Applied Mathematics at the University of Bath from January 2009. He will continue to hold his Royal Society University Research Fellowship there.

• There will be two schools in this year's 4th edition of the UK Dynamical Systems Graduate School programme:
  • Nonlinear and Stochastic Systems in Biology, University of Leeds, 30 Mar - 1 Apr. The school will cover topics such as stochastic modelling, neural networks, population dynamics and evolutionary game theory. It will be followed by two BBSRC I2M-network workshops on Stochastic Modelling of Biological Systems on 2nd April, and on Immunology on 3rd April.
