The course is intended for scientists and engineers who are concerned with the modelling and analysis of nonlinear systems, and the detection and classification of nonlinearity based on measured time series. The emphasis will be on fundamental considerations of dynamical systems, but a feature of the course will be MATLAB-based sessions in which participants will use readily available software to help reinforce the taught material.
It will be assumed that participants will have a working knowledge of linear differential equations.
Course Instructors are members of the Department of Mathematics and the Signal Processing and Control Group of the ISVR.
The Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at the University of Southampton.
450 pounds: to include course notes and refreshments. Accommodation is not included in the fee; details of local hotels will be provided on request.
