Dr Vadim B. Kuznetsov (University of Leeds, UK), an expert in
integrable systems, died on 16 December 2005, aged 42.

There are two
newly elected Fellows of the Royal Society of London in the
area of nonlinear dynamics. They are
Jerrold E. Marsden FRS (CalTech)
Michael R.E. Proctor FRS (Cambridge)
Appointments
- Róbert Szalai has been appointed Research Assistant at the
Department of Engineering Mathematics, University of
Bristol. Róbert did his PhD with Gábor
Stépán at Budapest University of Technology and
Economics on nonlinear dynamics of high-speed milling. He spent time
abroad at the University of Bristol on an Eötvös Scholarship,
Hungarian Scholarship Board (2004), and at MIT on a Fulbright
Fellowship (2004-2005). At Bristol he will work with EPSRC Advanced
Research Fellow Hinke
Osinga on tori and global manifolds in piecewise-smooth vector
fields.
